Camping at Priest Hole

Labor Day Weekend - Last camping trip before school starts back up
This is the John Day River - this time of year it was more like a creek,
so shallow in some spots you would hit bottom in the kayaks.
But it made it easy to navigate the water on foot to get in a lot of fishing

Mitch got a lot of fly fishing in. Started just on the banks till we realized how low it was

Jaxon was on the river from sun rise to sun set

This river runs through the Painted Hills- a portion of the John Day Fossil area

The river would be so smooth in the evenings and mornings
We were catching Small Mouth Bass.
They are a pretty neat fish, w spiny dorsal fin, and a big mouth.
 Mitch and Jaxon still fishing
We caught so many, so fun
Jax took a mtn bike ride w me. This is the view towards where we are camping.

 Lots of sun and fishing
every once in a while I put down the camera and did some fishing.
It was pretty fun just floating around on the river
After two days of sun we headed into the little town of Mitchell about 15 min away.
another fun afternoon, we found the brewery we had been told about,
it wasn't hard to find in a one road town 😜.
Great drinks and hot wings!
In a store front window was a lunch box just like I had in grade school
And an actual working phone booth
