Prom 2014

Ethan and Kylie

We, (Mitch, Jaxon and I) dropped them off at the Salt Lake City Capitol Building for prom and instead of heading back home decided to go out for dinner and a movie.  By the time we neared temple square we ran into  multitudes of women, that had apparently just finished  women's conference. Needless to say we didn't make it to the movie, but instead wandered through the Gateway and stopped and ate hot wings until we needed to pick them back up.

Pepperoni Sandwiches and Make Up Games

I need to document the cute things Jaxon comes up with or, from past experience, it will slip away from memories.

Monday morning I headed downstairs to see how Jaxon was doing getting ready for school. He had decided that he was going to have cold lunch and had gotten most of his sandwich done by the time I got to the kitchen...The Pepperoni Sandwich... he had placed 5 pieces of pepperoni and 5 chunks of cheese on two slices of bread that had been lathered in mayo. It was one of those what do I do moments. Clearly that is not quite the healthiest of sandwiches, albeit the whole wheat bread, but he had done it all be himself,  which he was quite proud of! So I helped him finish and put some healthier options in his lunch box to go w his pepperoni sandwich and suggested maybe next time try a different kind of sandwich so we can have the pepperoni for pizzas and snacks??? Such a cutie

And my second favorite "Jaxonism" for that day was when he learned that he had a 'makeup' game this Saturday.
"What's a makeup game?" We thought we explained it well, but clearly didn't initially pick up on the dual meaning of makeup. It wasn't until he asked if they were supposed to wear black and white that it occurred to me that he thought facial 'makeup' game!
So after we were all on the same page he aks " Why don't they call it a 'make-it-up' game instead of a 'makeup' game?''  Good question Buddy!!

Spring Break #1

Zions, Grand Canyon and Moab revisited - 10 years later
We decided to head South for our first spring break of the year, as most know w children in different  schools the odds of Spring Breaks falling on the came week are slim. For Ethan's we decided to revisit some of the national parks we visited when he was just about Jaxons age.
We stopped in Zions on our first day, hiked, enjoyed the warm weather and evening views. We traveled on and stayed in Tuba, Az so we could get to the Grand Canyon in the morning w/o having to get up too early.

Headed out on our first hike into Zions.

Grand Canyon

We arrived at the Grand Canyon mid morning and despite the clear, beautiful, sunny sky, it was quite brisk! The Grand Canyon truly is amazing. We so enjoyed experiencing it again. We hiked and hiked,  found yummy food, couldn't get on the overcrowded shuttle to get back to where we parked, so then we hiked some more!

Moab, UT

After leaving Grand Canyon we Mitch drove as far as he could, which got us to Kayenta, Az and we found a motel and grocery store. Not a lot of options on this route back to Ut. I don't recommend this place (no offense to any Kayentians) but just keep driving is my advice!
We arrived in Moab in the afternoon and enjoyed a delicious bbq lunch at The Blu Pig and then went on and explored for dinosaur tracks and Indian petroglyphs,

March 2014

Project # 1 - I believe or maybe it was the refinishing the kitchen cabinets :)
It all started w a wobbly toilet.... there's a lot we have learned to just live w in our basement bathroom/laundry room, until enough was enough. Mitch and I know just enough about home improvement to get us into trouble. We pulled out the wobbly toilet, cheap vanity and leaking shower and then continued on and tore down the walls. We then decided to flip the water and drains to maximize the space... we called in the help, Salt City Builders. More to come....

Leader of the Month
So proud of this little guy, he is our sanity! He loves school. he's so helpful w his classmates, he's excelling in math (thanks to KUMON and a lot of hard work on Jaxons part) after a rough beginning and has never ending energy and a zest for life!

Our other big March events deserve a post of their own, Prom and Spring Break #1.
